About Scholarship: Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation (REDD+) can represent a novel source of income for developing countries. But forest conservation can be costly and may also reduce the population’s access to forest and land resources with potential negative income effects. The successful candidate is expected to assess the impacts of forest conservation with respect to forest cover and distributional effects in the West African Sudanian Savannah region. The scholarship is part of the newly created West African Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL).
