Research Position in Hybrid Rice Breeding for Developing Countries Students at International Rice Research Institute, Philippines 2012
About Scholarship: To perform assigned germplasm improvement experiments in coordination with higher level scientists.
Roles and responsibilities:
• Develop and handle breeding nurseries for incorporating hybrid rice trials, including field lay-outing, field establishment and management, monitoring plant growth and executing experiments according to established standards and protocols;
• Collect experimental data and reviews and verifies data to ensure the validity of all results, and writes/interprets experiment reports based on scientific analysis;
• Collect, prepare and exam experimental samples using equipment
• Supervise technicians and contractual workers on experimental activities, data collection and processing of samples, and meets within the given resources and time frame;
• Provide support to training for technicians, scholars and students;
• Manage operation and maintenance of equipment and office asset assigned;
• Report technical problems and issues affecting operations to the supervisor, and recommend solutions to solve the problems and issues;
• Perform all other related duties as maybe assigned from time to time by the supervisor.

• Bachelor of Science degree in Agronomy or Plant Breeding/Genetics
• At least two (2) years of relevant work experience
