The Philippines-Australia Human Resource and Organizational Development Facility (PAHRODF), which manages the Australian government scholarship programs in the Philippines, is currently promoting the Australia Development Awards which includes the Australian Development Scholarships (ADS) and the Australian Leadership Awards (ALA).
During the orientation spearheaded by the Civil Service Commission, Hazel Mae Mallillin of PAHRODF said these scholarships aim to develop capacity and leadership skills so that individuals can contribute to the development in the Philippines.
Have something to report? Tell us in text, photos or videos. According to Mallillin, the scholarships are open to individuals who are from the public and private sectors planning to pursue post-graduate, masters or doctorate studies in Australia.
To qualify, interested applicants may apply online or submit hard copy of applications, employees of Government Institutions/Agencies must submit an Agency Endorsement Letter with their application, submit a valid IELTS or TOEFL certificate at application and meet the minimum IELTS requirements of 6.5 overall score (or TOEFL equivalent), a two years relevant work experience is required.
She added that the assessment of all applications will be based on the combination of academic results, relevance and suitability of proposed study, and potential contribution to Philippines’s development. Special consideration is also given to disadvantaged applicants who are defined as ethnic minorities and persons with disabilities.
Scholars will be studying in world-class universities in Australia. The 2011-12 World University Rankings show that eight Australian universities are among the 100 most prestigious universities in world.
Top-ranking scholars will also be given a supplemental Australian Leadership Award, which will provide them access to leadership development opportunities while in Australia.
For the year 2013, at least 120 Australia Awards scholarships will be available for the Philippines. Application period is from February 1, 2012 to April 30, 2012.
The campus will have a funding of EUR 4.8 million during 2012.
